Custom software for Standa filter wheels
The test asks for an attenuation and the software moves the filters that give it.
With two filter wheels there are dozens of possible combinations. Keeping track by hand of which position gives which attenuation is a source of mistakes.
For the PLATO test bench we developed the USB interface for the 8SMC4 controller and the conversion between positions and attenuation. In your lab it could be used, for example, to:
- ask for an attenuation and let the software choose the filters;
- store with each test the filter calibration that was used;
- check the position after every move;
- run through every intensity level in a single sequence.
